Countertops look simple in plan drawings because the finished surface is continuous. The fabrication behind that surface is not.
Confirm the footprint
Record each run separately and note changes in depth, islands, peninsulas and returns. Do not assume every section has the same depth.
Mark every cut-out
Sink and hob openings need exact dimensions and placement. Confirm whether the supplier wants the appliance model, template or final cut-out size.
Define the edge
“Polished edge” can mean very different scopes. Confirm edge length, profile, corner details and whether the fabrication price is per running metre, per piece or part of the package.
Plan joints and supports
Long runs, corners, islands and overhangs can require joints or additional support. The exact stone thickness and product specification matter.
Access is part of the project
Staircases, narrow corridors, lifts and upper floors can change handling and lifting requirements. Tell the supplier about these constraints early.
