The public site may store a small preference value for the cookie-choice banner. The admin area uses a secure session cookie when configured.
Optional analytics and advertising
Optional analytics and advertising should only be enabled after the site operator has configured the relevant consent controls. Google notes that AdSense can use cookies and that publishers must clearly display a privacy policy notifying visitors about cookie use.
EEA, UK and Switzerland
Google's current publisher policy requires a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework when serving personalized ads to users in the EEA, UK or Switzerland. The production deployment should therefore use Google's certified CMP/Privacy & Messaging setup before enabling such traffic.
